I've fished Argentina half a dozen times before, but always in northern Patagonia so I had no clear idea of what to expect from Far End River Lodge and the Irigoyen River. Now that I've been there, where do I start? Accomodations were excellent (clean, simple rooms where everything works) and the food superb. The staff were all attentive and a pleasure to deal with. And the guides are outstanding. It's hard for someone my age to fathom how guys that have been alive for less time than I've been fishing have come to know a fish (sea run brown trout) and a river so well. Nico, Alex, and Packet are all top notch. Having covered the lodge and the staff, that leaves only the river and the fish. Again, this was my first encounter with sea run browns, but I can assure you that the Irigoyen delivered. Catching fresh sea run browns on a one-hand rod in a river smaller than my home water here in SE Wyoming was absolutely amazing. In fact I'd call it a "once in a lifetime" experience but that would be a lie, because I'll be back!
